Monolith CX 50-3 belongs to the group of cyanoacrylate adhesives. They are single-component, solvent-free adhesives that polymerize very quickly in reaction with moisture in the air. They are used to connect a wide variety of materials, such as elastomers, plastics (thermoplastics and thermosets) and metals. The time needed for the adhesive to harden depends on the air humidity, the thickness of the adhesive layer, and the surface. Therefore, the use of Cyanoacrylate Monolith adhesives requires that the joint be relatively small and flat. A thin layer is obtained by pressing the parts; then the complete hardening of the glue takes place in a matter of seconds to minutes.

In addition, this adhesive is partially flexible after curing, which allows the gluing of materials with significantly different thermal expansion coefficients. The partial elasticity of the adhesive also results in increased peel strength.
The strength of joints made with the use of Monolith CX 50-3 glue and subjected to dynamic thermal loads (cycles -20ºC - + 100ºC) is almost twice as high as joints made with standard cyanoacrylate adhesives. Moreover, the Monolith CX 50-3 can withstand thermal loads up to + 120ºC!
Monolith CX 50-3 gives durable connections, resistant to climatic conditions, increased humidity and water diffusion.
The above-mentioned advantages make this adhesive the basic or the only choice for all those joints that work in extremely difficult conditions and are subjected to high dynamic and thermal loads.
With all these advantages, the cross-linking (curing) time of the adhesive is not significantly longer than that of standard cyanoacrylate adhesives. However, as with all cyanoacrylate adhesives, the curing speed is dependent on the moisture content of the air during bonding.
Monolith CX 50-3 adhesive is suitable for bonding plastics, metals and elastomers. After using the CAP-3 primer, good results are obtained in joining polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and PTFE as well as other difficult-to-join plastics.
